Find Your Program 

Selkirk Selects was established in 1998 and is a non-profit organization catering to both male and female artistic gymnastics from ages 2 and up. We moved to our current location in 2006; the club averages 200+ Recreational and Competitive gymnasts.  Our club has experienced many great successes over the years and continues to expand year to year.

FALL SESSION

2024/2025

September - April 

 

Fall Session is an 8 month program offered to both Recreational and Competitive Gymnasts. This program gives gymnasts the opportunity to experience the sport of gymnastics during a longer time period. Take a look at our available classes and descriptions to find which one is best for you!

Fall Registration generally opens mid-June.

SPRING SESSION

2025

May - June

 

Spring Session is an 8 week program for gymnasts who wish to do more gymnastics after the regular season has ended, and for new gymnasts wanting to do gymnastics without the longer Fall/Winter season commitment. Any competitive gymnasts who are going to be moving up to a higher level in the following year should attend Spring Session so that they can start getting ready for the upcoming season at their new level!

Spring Registration generally opens mid-February.

SUMMER CAMP

2025

July - August

Summer Camp is the perfect way for your child to stay active in the summer months when there are no regularly scheduled gymnastics classes. Gymnasts will spend the day perfecting their gymnastics skills, conditioning, playing out-door games, water games and crafts... followed by more gymnastics!

Summer Camp registration generally opens mid-March.

Tiny Tots (NEW!)

Gender: Boys & Girls 

Ages: 1.5 - 2.5 (at session start date)

Class Length: 45 mins

Come explore gymnastics with your child! Tiny Tots will be geared towards our very youngest participants by focusing on exploring movement in a less structured, child-led environment. This is a great way to introduce children to an active, healthy lifestyle. They will get to play some games and explore all of our gymnastics equipment.

Recreational 1 (Co-Ed)

Gender: Boys & Girls 

Ages: 6-8

Class Length: 1 hour

This class is designed for gymnasts with little or no experience in the sport. It introduces children to the basics of gymnastics in a fun, safe and disciplined environment. Skills will be developed to improve flexibility, balance and strength, which enhances skill development. Recreational 1 will be guided by the CANGym Badge Levels 1-4.

Boys Recreational

Gender: Boys

Ages: 7+

Class Length: 1 hour 15 mins

This class is designed for male gymnasts 9+ with little or no experience in the sport. For boys having completed Rec 1 and received a Boys Rec recommendation, it serves as the next level in gymnastics development.  Skills will be developed to improve flexibility, balance and strength, which enhances overall skill development.  Boys Rec will be guided by CANGym Badge Levels 4, MAG 5-7.

Pre-Competitive MIGHTIES

*Invitation Only

Gender: Girls

Ages: 7-11

Class Length: 2 hours

This class is by invitation only and is intended for gymnasts coming from our Recreational 1 or Minies classes. It is designed to introduce the strength, skills and discipline needed for our competitive program. Our coaches emphasize quality, self-improvement, and hard work in a fun-filled structured class. Gymnasts will develop their strength, flexibility, body awareness and coordination on all four events, as well as show off their skills at two of our our in-house "Pre-Comp Cookie Comps."

Men's Competitive

*Invitation Only

Gender: Boys 

Ages: 8+

Class Length: Varies by Level

This program is developed to assist in the progression from the Regional Stream to Provincial Stream. 

The program puts an emphasis on having fun yet demands a commitment to working hard.  As the gymnasts progress and higher levels are achieved, further competitions beyond the Regional Stream can be introduced. The Regional Stream includes beginner thru advanced and Provincial Stream includes Level 1-4 for men.

Tumbling Tots (NEW!)

Gender: Boys & Girls 

Ages: 2.5 - 4 (at session start date)

Class Length: 45 mins

Come explore gymnastics with your child! Tumbling Tots will start to introduce basic gymnastics movements and prepare your child for independence in the gym in the future. This is a great way to introduce children to an active, healthy lifestyle. Tumbling Tots will also be an option for 4 year olds who would benefit from having their caregiver with them to continue having a fun gymnastics experience while taking small steps towards independence.

Recreational 2

Gender: Girls 

Ages: 8-10

Class Length: 1 hour 30 minutes

This class is best suited for girls between the ages of 9-10 with little to no experience in the sport. For gymnasts who have completed Rec 1 and received a Rec 2 recommendation, it acts as the next step in gymnastics development. Skills will be developed to improve flexibility, balance and strength, which enhances overall skill development. Recreational 2 is guided by CANGym Badge Levels WAG 5-6.

XCEL (NEW!) 

Gender: Girls 

Ages: 11+ 

Class Length: 2 hours

This program is designed for athletes who would like to do more gymnastics and continue to develop their skills, but do not want the commitment of our competitive program.  To join this program, gymnasts must have taken gymnastics classes for a minimum of 1 year, or hold a CANGym Badge Level 5 equivalent (upon coaches assessment). During our Fall season, these athletes will get the opportunity to 'compete' at 1-2 in-house fun meets. XCEL will be guided by CANGym Badge Levels WAG 7+.

Pre-Competitive MINIES

*Invitation Only

Gender: Boys

Ages: 5-7

Class Length: 1.5 hours

This class is by invitation only and is designed to introduce boys to the skills and discipline that is required for our competitive program. Our coaches emphasize quality, self-improvement, and hard work in a fun-filled structured class. Gymnasts will develop their strength, flexibility, body awareness and coordination on all six events; just watch their confidence grow! They will also get to participate in two skill based in-house “Pre-comp Cookie Comps” throughout the year where they will get to showcase to parents/caregivers the skills they have learned.

Women's Competitive

(Developmental Program)

*Invitation Only

Gender: Girls

Ages: 8+

Class Length: Varies by Level

This program is developed to assist in the progression through the Canada wide Junior Olympic Program. Our program puts an emphasis on having fun yet demands a commitment to working hard.  Gymnasts will be required to compete at a minimum of three competitions per year and coaches & competition scores will determine the level the gymnast will be eligible to compete in. As the gymnast’s progress and higher levels are achieved, further training and competitions will be introduced.

Kindergym

Gender: Boys & Girls 

Ages: 4-5

Class Length: 45 mins

Kindergym is targeted for children ages 4-5 who are ready to be independent in the gym. This class is designed for girls & boys as an introduction to the basics of gymnastics in a fun, safe and disciplined environment. This active class introduces them to all of the equipment involved with artistic gymnastics in an age-appropriate fashion. Kindergym will be guided by the CANGym Badge levels 1-2.

Recreational 3 (NEW!) 

Gender: Girls 

Ages: 9-11

Class Length: 2 hours

This class is best suited for girls aged 11 with little to no gymnastics experience. For gymnasts having completed Rec 2 and received a Rec 3 recommendation, it acts as the next step in gymnastics development. Skills will continue to be developed to improve flexibility, balance and strength, which will feed into more advanced skill development. Rec 3 will be guided by CANGym Badge Levels WAG 5-7.
